I was never very good at roughing it. Camping was never really my thing, and I’m not very fun to be around if I don’t have some modern conveniences close at hand. A few weeks ago I was hired to do a weekend shoot at the Sandestin Resort. I had been there once before to shoot a convention, so I really didn’t have a chance to walk around and enjoy the scenery. However, this shoot was to be a little more expansive - covering a wide range of scenic resort locales and conducting interviews with weekend visitors.
Our accommodations exceeded my expectations. The resort was gracious enough to comp our rooms and I found that I had a 7th story suite all to myself. It was unbelievable. We enjoyed food at some great restaurants and had the opportunity to visit the golf course, tennis courts, night clubs, and a penthouse suite. I could get used to shoots like these.

This is a view from my balcony in the Elation Building looking into the courtyard. The Grand Sandestin is on the left.

This is a view looking off to the right side of my balcony. That’s the bay in the background. In the foreground is the balcony for the penthouse suite. Our crew shot some b-roll of that suite the night before I grabbed this shot.

This is a view of the living room area in my suite. Not a bad way to spend a shoot.
